Apple MacBook Air overview
ALL-NEW TOUCH BAR AND TOUCH ID
The Touch Bar is a multi-touch–enabled strip of Retina-resolution glass built into your keyboard replacing the usual function keys and allows you to instantly access the tools you want, so you can quickly control volume, access apps and browse through content. It also dynamically changes and adapts depending on the app you are using giving you the features you need most for that particular application. You can even customise the Touch Bar in some apps.
With Touch ID you can now unlock your MacBook Pro with just a single touch. Touch ID also gives you the option to make secure online payments using Apple Pay, as well as quick access to system settings and locked notes. You can also switch between users with a touch of a finger, making it ideal for sharing.
The new display in the MacBook Pro is the best ever in a Mac notebook. It features brighter LED backlighting and an increased contrast ratio, delivering deeper blacks and brighter whites. Its larger pixel aperture and variable refresh rate make it more power efficient than previous generations. And it’s the first Mac notebook to support wide colour, for even more vibrant greens and reds. This ensures truer-to-life pictures with realistically vivid details, essential for graphic design, colour grading and editing.
Radeon Pro delivers up to 130 per cent faster graphics performance than the previous generation. It’s manufactured with a cutting-edge 14 nanometer process to produce up to 2 and a half times more computing power per watt.
Apple has redesigned the speakers to provide twice the dynamic range and up to 58 per cent more volume, with 2 and a half times louder bass for maximum boom. And these beauties are connected directly to system power to allow for up to 3 times more peak power.
UPDATED KEYBOARD AND TRACKPAD
Typing is more precise and comfortable with Apple’s new, second-generation butterfly mechanism. The Forch Touch trackpad has increased to give your fingers more room to manoeuvre for improved clicking and scrolling.
Combines ultra-high bandwidth with the ultra-versatility of the USB-C industry standard to create one revved-up universal port. It integrates data transfer, charging and video output in a single connector, delivering up to 40 Gbps of throughput for twice the bandwidth of Thunderbolt 2.
Now you can talk to your Mac as Apple’s macOS Sierra brings Siri to your notebook. This means you can work even faster and more efficiently, as you can ask Siri to perform tasks without having to stop what you’re doing. The macOS will also help you to rediscover your best photos, shop faster and more conveniently online, as well as move more seamlessly between devices.
